Run run run

I have been running...or jogging i guess.

I started out 2-3 times a week, 2 mins run 1 min walk.
As i increased i hung out at 5mins run 1 min walk for 3-4 weeks.

My leg is doing really well. which makes me HAPPY.
I started running through the entire first mile then doing, 6 mins run 1 min walk after that.
So far its been good, hard, but good. (twss)

But recently spring left and summer came in FULL FORCE.
88 degrees and 1,000% humidity full force.
Here is my sweaty face, runners glow (read: red faced), and hot mess train.
I am not Hawt in this pic, im just hot!

Thankfully my neighborhood is very shaded, but in those not so shaded spots, yikes!
between the sun beating down on me and the hot pavement killing me i was a mess!

But the real point is, i finally felt like me.
like the hardest part was over.
like i could actually enter a race again.
like i wouldnt be held back anymore.
like my anger could finally go away
like everything was fixable.

running solves everything, for me.
free therapy, man.

Also this happened this week.

This was my pace when i trained for a 10K over a year ago.
Granted my other 2 miles were more like 10:50 and 10:40, but still.
This is pretty big for me.

Now someone else who uses the Nike app, tell me if i can view other features about my run.
I cant figure out how this app works :)

Tomorrow i plan on running in the morning at home, half day at work, then FINALLY CAMPING!
I love camping! I will try to get better pictures this year!

Friday Friday

TGIF!
Sooooooo happy its the weekend time. Granted Ill be busting out the bathroom all weekend and puppy sitting.

Got a run in again on Wednesday after work

I am hoping this whole, i take a half hour lunch, and my boss lets me leave a half hour early to go run continues to work out.
I really love running near my job, as apposed to my home, where I'm just not into the neighborhood yet.
I also did all of my training last year here near my work, because i lived a short walk away.
so its nostalgic and familiar.

Wednesday: Farthest I've gone since injured.
Happy, very happy.
No pain. which is excellent.
feel really REALLY out of shape.
But, all that lifting must have worked because no charlie horses, no sore legs, tight muscles, etc.
and here i thought i was spinning my wheels for 6 months.

We skipped on Body Pump this morning. I was disappointed.
I was also nursing a food-hangover - see: pizza, ice cream samiches, and cake
but we can go tomorrow so here is hoping to we go ahead and go.

This also let me experiment with trying to straigthen my hair post shower pre work.
a little frumpy but im happy with it. might have to be better on my time in the mornings so i can always do this.
good grief, dye your hair already?amirght!
how do you take a selfie without man hands? I think all my mirrors are too tiny.
Also i need to find the scale at the gym, i have no idea what i weigh, and i need to start getting myself in check a bit here.

No fun run

I ran this shiz yesterday, post work.
If you follow me on instagram, @robine182 i should change that to blog status
you saw i was not only having a long difficult day but i did NOT want to run.

SUCK IT UP BUTTER CUP!
And i did.
I had a new outfit and everything and it was about 34 degrees out.
Before and After. and a kitty photo bomb to boot.
Jacket: Gap. Pantlopes: Oldnavy compressions LOVE. Hat/headband/earwarmers: Nike & Champion. Shoes: Adidas. FLIPBELT lovex2

So I am still doing a C25K sort of thing my trainers gave me to work on. The good news is i am still getting quicker and i have no pain. double win. I havent progressed in about 3 weeks because i havent been consistent.
First two intervals were fine.
Its freaking cold so my breathing was rough and my chest was tight.

Man that last interval i wanted to quit.
I need a route that takes me in a loop not having to back track to get my time in.
I REALLY wanted to quit.
But honestly, I was like, "if i quit now, i can't say i did it tomorrow on the blog"..
I DID IT! AND IT SUCKED BUT I FREAKING DID IT.
there it is. I struggle. its hard sometimes. but this my blog so im gonna brag away.

Running

TOMORROW i finally leave on vacation after work.
I will drive us as far as i can get, the goal is Erie, but the reality is probably more like somewhere between Colmubus and Akron, Ohio.

Vacation bishes!

Soooooooo after being crazy sore from BodyPump, i stopped running because im a scardy cat!
Yesterday I got back out there, and posted the selfie whilst waiting for T-Dubs.
I FEEL AMAZING!
Not only that, my leg was F.I.N.E!
how did that happen??? honestly i think part of it is learning to rest with my body needs it.
yes, i think i rested a little too much. i did not anticipate how this week was going to go with late nights, packing for colder weather, planning and then dealing with a pipe leaking.
T-Dubs was a good sport and ran with me lastnight. He usually rides his bike but its broke right now.
We did 1 min walks 6 mins runs, 3 times.

These numbers dont reflect the intervals.
But I am still very happy with my pace.
I was surprised to get over 2 miles as well.
I feel like a ninny saying that, actually i feel like a ninny about all my recovery runs so far.
BUT i have got to start somewhere and get it in! So here is to being more bold with sharing!

What app do you use? How do you do intervals? How do you wear your phone? - I use runtastic, and a free interval timer, and put my phone in my flipbelt. I dont pay for apps.

Shiney New YMCA

Running Saturday: 1 min walk 6 mins run x3.
Went well. Felt good. No pain.
It was after taking a class at the Y.
MISTAKE, now im really sore and worried i have re-injuried myself. so im tryign to rest...
So about two weeks ago T-Dubs and I joined the new SHINEY YMCA near where we live.
We had a $20/month membership at a local 'gym' that basically just had equipment. Honestly they didnt even have a good area to stretch. but we werent that serious about working out. so whatever.

We've been 5amclubbers since January.
So we joined the 'cool' gym.
I say cool, because we see SOOOO many people there we know from church, or famous people from chruch. :)
Last week we tried swimming in the pools, huge fail.
We have to try that at a non peak time.
Then Saturday we tried Boby Pump by Les Mills?
CRAZY! AWESOME! I can barely walk and i fall into every chair. :)
here are two of my favorite features of this gym:
This makes sooooo much sense.
no eye contact ever, with anyone on theses. ever.

They have a TINY little track inside which is so nice. not good for long distances but with my training runs being pretty small still. this is a really nice feature for me

Friday husband and i went to watch the Fightin Illini beat Iowa in the assembly hall! I love some good volleyball.

Not my best

I knew it would happen eventually.
I would have a training run that wasn't great.
I still stretch and roll my leg before work outs
And I put heat on it after leg day or runs
me, post gym.

soooo today was 1 min walk 4 mins run TIMES 4!!!
Which is more than i have been doing the last two weeks. i have only been running 3 sets.
as instructed.
Well when my interval went off for # 4 i was doggin it.
tired. burnt out. my leg felt bothersome. i quit two minutes in.

series of events happened that put me here:

running late - i hate that.
lifted, then went to run outside, packed my FAVORITE JACKET.
this jacket then got all kinds of jacked up on the zipper

then my husband made it worse - bless him, he was just trying to help
double late to getting into my run in time.
random people on the indoor track running in the middle.
ok, here is my thing, the track is tiny, you can see everyone on it. if you know you are slow move over. you know you are about to get passed why must you be in the middle. so then there was that.
then, my terrible fourth set...
late leaving the gym while i am trying to make sure i stretch

so needless to say it wasnt the greatest run.
but its done.
This is NORMAL.
I know that, this is typical for running.
BUT, my mind keeps saying i should be able to go run 5 miles today.
and i can't.
i just need to take a step back and be grateful and take each day, run, as it comes.

tomorrow: arms, core
thrusday: legs, run: 1 min walk, 5 min run x3
friday: arms, core
saturday: maybe try a spin class (?), run: 1 min walk, 6 min run x3

Follow up Friday

This week I've been MIA.
I got cold like symptoms on Monday and Tuesday.
But never got the cold. thank the lord.
heres the updated.

Monday we joined our local YMCA. Pictures to come soon.
We love it. Nice. New.
Group fitness, pools, and an indoor track.

Got cracking on the bathroom again.
Plastic is hung.
I have a Michael Bryne Tiling book from the library that suggests lining it with assfault felt.
Thats next on the list.
It only took us an hour to locate the water shut off for the house.
Aaaahhhhh we are sad new homeowners :)

I RAN
And I completed my first week back in therapy approved training runs!!
This was my week 1. And actually i didnt follow this 100%.
i did Run 1 - all last week.
So this week Run 1 & 2 were both actually 2, and then Run 3 was this morning.
Runners high and beyond.
I sweat.
My feet hit the floor/treadmill.
I am pushing  myself.
I crank my tunes!

Jay-Z. Always.
It has seriously been amazing.
I have been soooooo DOWN.
Depressed doesnt even cover the range of emotions.
Maybe more like Manic Depressive.
I totally understand how hard it is to be positive during an injury.
Not being about to get my heart rate up in a way i enjoy, and really sweat it out.
I quit 30DS mostly because I had a priated copy on my lap top and it died sunday.

Its hard to put into words how running makes me feel.
Strong.
Confident.
Invinceible.
Able.

Its that feeling of pushing one foot in front of the other.
When my lungs burn, my sides have stitches, i want to quit but keep going.
This training program is slooooooowwww.
But i am hopeful that it will get back to higher milage (for me thats anything above 2 miles).
without any injuries.

Facing fears

Tried to do my hair after my allotted time today.
So side swipe is what you get.
Last week I told my physical therapist that i quit.
emotionally i can no longer stand it, i can't seem to rebound the awful mood/depression it puts me in.

Physical therapy, costs way too much, i can do everything on my EXCEPT the shock thing that i dont think does anything anyways, and i have to go during WORK. I can no longer sacrifice my work time. Sorry, I have a full time job that i actually have to be at.

When i told her i was pretty much over it, she of said it was time to see an actual doctor.

...wait. Soooooo when im primary told me to come here, she thought you could fix it. Now that its been since the end of May, you are telling me i should see a doctor in sports medicine that, i dunno, SPECIALIZES in injuries? WHY fortheloveofcheese did i not do this FIRST?

That was my reaction last week.
Today is the day.
Anything could happen.
I emotionally drank and ate last night becauseimafatty
and now im in a foul mood.
but really.
I am terrified.

i have dumped my bad days on this blog before. complained, felt sorry for myself, etc. its been hard to not be running.
running is my passion.
its also how i keep on track.
i have pretty much yo-yo in weight since i quit running.
but now, i am just straight up scared.

what if i cant ever run again? what if im stuck with this horrible body forever? what if i cant loose the weight? what if i cant ever eat healthy enough? what if? what if?

Honesty.
i want to be 100% up front on here and in my own life, day to day.
whether its on days that i want to whine and feel sorry for myself for eating huge portions of pasta, or happy days full of fun and love with my better half.

Today, I am scared.
However, i want answers, i want resolution, i want to be RUNNING.

in case you dont know: last winter i trained for a 5K-10K challenge at the end of April. 5K on friday night and 10K on Saturday morning. About 5 weeks before race day my leg really started to hurt. This was the first time i had ever done cross training or run farther than a 5K. Lunges and Squats were my cross training, and i am convinced this is when i straining my groin muscle. It sounds stupid but it HURT. so much that if i moved wrong while sleeping i would wake with so much pain i was medicating. I pushed through, tried new stretches, stopped doing lunges and squats because it aggravated it. Raced. itwasaweful. took 5 weeks "off" went to my doctor and got referred to physical therapy in the end of May.

Weigh In/Bad Day/PT update

Pretty Strong Medicine
Ahhhh the awesome yo-yo stag.
2-3lbs from 180-183.
This is where i was a month ago.
Gotta focus up and get past this.
I was 181 last week. Also Truth Gun, I am weighing in about 3 times a week :( but i swear its helping me make better choices!

PT Update:
Finally we are starting strength
I have tight/knotted/inflamed muscles on the inside of my right thigh.
The strength we did was core!
Booooo!
I hate crunches.
Plus I'm awful at core.
Which is why I'm prolly beer gut 100% of the time.

So we take this little ball and hold it between your knees or legs and have to do stuff with it.

Yeah I suck.
Core sucks.
Maybe having to do it will help me like it?
This is my new PT, Amy.
Shes cool and a lot more intense and ready to go!
I like! Heal me up! I'm ready to run!

Back to the jenky shock machine I used on my first day.
Yesterday at work was awful.
More so than usual. Usually i love my job.
Not so much as of late.
Anything that could wrong did, computer failure, system wipe all my data, pdf error = attachment fail to all the officers, on and on and on! :)

I have the best husband, he knows the way to my heart beer gut.
I came home to this! Murica, Amen.

i wanna run

Its true.
I wish I could just lace up and go sweat it out.
the weather was PERFECT yesterday for a run, and this morning.
slightly cool with a light breeze.
GAH!
I feel like a crazy person.
So, I will schedule more PT this week and next, THEN FINALLY I start strength training.
Praise the Lord!

This weekend we attended a super awesome wedding.
A girlfriend of mine got married and I am so happy for her.
But, I dont think I really let it hit me until the following morning that she is really gone now.
Bitter sweet, but I am so excited for her to start her new chapter in her life!

Some home fixin's didn't go so well.
We get discouraged easily.
We did get some stuff done, though.

I am struggling with CURTIANS! I know what I want but i can't find it anywhere.
I want linen/canvas looking curtians.
We ordered some from walmart.
We will see.
They are prolly gonna be return.
First world problems.

Happy Monday! I can't wait for Thrusday! :)

Physical Therapy part deux

GINGER!!!
Noooooo my PT doc is Ginger. Although, she is not a ginger. She is a MS, ATC...whatever that means. It was ALOT less awkward having her all up in my bid'ness.
still awkward though.
i don't really like people in my space.
She is my gal with a plan!

Still included the shock therapy, which is still really weird to me. But upside is we used a less jenky looking machine. I shaved really well on de upper thigh, i was not risking the peeling-off-pain this week. plus we ended up using FOUR shockers for cross-current action. The pictures don't do any justice for my twitchy Mctwitcher leg action.

THE PLAN:
3 stretches 3 times a day.
I need yoga though. I'm not a good stretcher and muscles are tight!
Also no running! :(
I can do no resistance bike or elliptical. booooooooo
Oooor I can swim.

Guess we are gonna re-consider a better, more expensive gym membership, to get pool access and group fitness classes for some yoga. I may wait till after the move, and try some DVD's from the library first.

She suggested water jog with an aqua jogger.
Fun.
Or not.
I'm not sure this actually works.
I'm afraid of drowning and while I can swim, I'm not good at it.

I need to look at this from the bright side, I could swim and get better at it...ihatethewater
It would be better cardio than no resistance on a bike or elliptical...lies
I can do cardio...butnotrun
I need to do some cardio and get some of my stress worked out!

Weekly Goals Link Up

Operation Skinny Jeans

Oh Boy I am going to WISH I never linked up to this idea. But the accountability is a good slap in the face.
Recap:
1. Not run. - i walked hard on Monday then HURT for days :( stupidassmothereffinglegiwillcutyouoff. So good i won this one.

2. Still go to the gym. - 50/50 we slept two days. we went one and i stood around. cried in the locker room. hated myself. and felt stupid asking TDubs if he could take me home early because i didnt know what i could do.

3. Eat clean. ....meeehhhhh... No small group this week so we did better. But then Friday Mexican happen and so did that time of the month. 4 Sangria's later, smothered cheese something dinner, 3 baskets of chips, and then a beer run after dinner. not so hot. Beer again on Saturday night post BWW for lunch. But this was fun TDubs and i were finally both home, so we had a dance party in the living room. Love hims.

its a miracle he loves me. check this out. im a huge bitch.

This was after the morning i cried at the gym. He knows its so hard for me to not be running right now. so he sent me this really sweet email. :) and i couldnt resist being a jerkwad.

soooo 1 for 3. effing #3 is gonna be on there all the damn time.

1. Find inspiration for the 10 week challenge through the same awesome chica hosting this link up. This might be for me...

I also might make my own graphic that reads "Bitch through it, but just do it" unsure yet. I am vulgar. I always have been since i used the "f" word in 7th grade. Hooked for life!

2. Mama Laughlin's Arm workout. I hit up SkinnyMeg's last week. My shoulders are still sore.

2.1 AND I wanna "try" this plank work out because i think it would be good to do something other than arms but that doesnt bother my resting dumbass leg.
http://pumpsandiron.com/2012/05/23/plank-workout/

3. Eat clean. "bitch through it robin, just effing do it, you'll thank me 30lbs later"

Race Results 10K

10K on Saturday morning at 7:42 am

This is how i felt on Saturday morning when my alarm went off at 5:30 am. NOT WORTH IT!
So i laid my lazy tired ass in bed checking the weather.
BOOOOO! Overcast.
i did eat very clean the days leading up to my races. This is a typical breakfast for me, turkey bacon, and 2 poached eggs. TDubs pumped up the jams via spotify at 6 am (your welcome neighbors) to get my head in the game. it was great. i was still pretty nervy.

Sooooooooo i ran on Friday, late at night. Downed some sleep aid. And got up Saturday for the 10K. i have been running and training since January. i over strained an inner thigh muscle about 5 weeks ago, and it has is been painful.

Lana stuck with me the whole time. She is just the awesome person, and i really miss that whole family a great deal. i was so grateful she wanted to run together. it helped pass the time plus it gave us an opportunity to catch up on life.

My goal had been to run the entire 10K, at about mile 2 the sun came out with a freaking VENGEANCE! We both peeled our coats off, this resulted in me having to carry my phone. frick on a stick.

Thankfully the course went through Old Town and had lots of tree shad. TDubs caught us between miles 3-4 which was fun to see him and some friends that were watching! the atmosphere is so neat with spectators.

Mile 5 ...gurgle grumble rawr stomach...uh oh...yeah, pretty much.
i ended up needing to walk.
it was all i could do to not cry while we walked.
Lana stayed with me, and i tried not to feel guilty about it.
double frick on a stick.

i figure we walked somewhere between half and 3/4 of a mile. then jogged the rest to the finish line.
i was completely out of sorts.
emotionally i couldn't even process my failure.
and i basically sprinted the steps at the stadium to the bathroom. fun times. i ended up with stomach issues for the rest of the weekend, oh the fun of that. and then we ate out twice.

Red Lobster. This was supposed to be my victory meal. it tasted like shit. not really, it was all smothered in butter so it tasted like fat kid heaven. i had a huge fruity drink and then went home and drank beer.

honestly i wasn't really ok with going to this dinner. it was not a victory. i am a type A person through and through. but sometimes you just have to acknowledge that you body just isn't having a good day.

I never had a problem during my training runs for any of this. my biggest issue had been my leg pain. so to say i'm disappointed is an understatement.

by Monday morning, i was convinced i would still run.
i will train some more and run a 10K alone and see if i can complete it.
it may take me longer than i planned but i will do it.

so i'm certainly not in the best spirits about the race depression much? but i did finish and even with walking our pace was still good. plus, the best thing about doing both events, you get 3 medals aawwwweeee yeaaaaahhhh! :)
